Philips Norelco arcitec 1060XD Shaver, Philips Most Advanced Shaver

... When I first got the Norelco Arcitec I was not very favorably impressed. I had been usint top-of-the-line Brauns for many years. But the more recent Brauns, using so-called "Gillette technology", did not give me a comfortable shave. They frequently pulled and even cut my face, especially when I had not shaved for 2 or 3 days. The Norelco is much more comfortable -- no pulling or nicking -- and has replaced the Brauns. The working area of the new Norelco is much larger than previous models, thus I can get a good shave more quickly. It is true, however, that the Brauns give a closer shave. But I now believe that "closeness" is an over-rated virtue, so I will use the Norelco to obtain a quicker and more comfortable shave. ...

Norelco Cool Skin 7735X/7737X cordless shaver (factory reconditioned)

... I was hesitant that this would work well. As a blade shaver I have always hated electrics because they burn and cause skin outbreaks. I decided to try this anyway since it automatically switches from 100V to 220V with a European plug adapter. No need to buy a different charger or a voltage converter when you travel, and it just might work on my face. Boy was I surprised. Not only did it work well, but it felt great after I shaved. I believe it is a true step-up for a blade shaver. The lotion not only makes my face feel great, but nicks and scrapes, or minor outbreaks on my face seem to disappear quickly with the lotion. You might want to buy this baby if you are a blade user or travel a lot. ...

Philips Sonicare FlexCare RS940 Toothbrush with Sanitizer

... I bought the Flexcare toothbrush early October. Was thrilled when I received it. Used it once then it died. I got a second one not to long after and had it for a month and a half and that one died too. I have to say that Phillips offer a great customer service. I loved the toothbrush the month and a half that I had it. It does clean very well. Leaves the teeth bright and white, just like after a visit to the dentist.

Unfortunately, after having two toothbrushes die on me, I will not go back to this product. After talking to the customer service rep she did say that they had some problems with the flexcare toothbrush. So you've been forwarned ...

Norelco 8170XL Speed-XL Shaver (factory reconditioned)

... The shave I get with this is fine, but be warned: The Norelco SpeedXL series has a built in blade life. Once Norelco thinks you need to change the blades (and they tend to think you should spend the $36 more often than you will want), the shaver disables itself.

The way it does this is that it turns on the "change blade" warning LED. And this LED uses so much power that it drains the batteries in just over one day. Worse yet, the shaver will not operate unless the battery is charged, so this results in a dead shaver until you replace the blades.

Way to go Norelco. I used to be a big fan. ...

... I just bought this product, two days ago. I don't its track record yet, for quality & longevity, but it's got loads of power, to clean my teeth well. ... I have had my Norelco T770 trimmer for a bit over three years, and now it will no longer hold a charge. Worse, the NiCad rechargeable battery pack CANNOT be replaced !!! Norelco obviously wants us to buy a new shaver and throw out the old one, even though it still works. This is "eco-unfriendly" and deliberate waste at it's corporate WORST !!! Sonicare FlexCare Power Toothbrush

... I've been using an older Sonicare model, the "Essence 5300" on which the switch was beginning to go out. I decided to upgrade to a Flexcare model and am very glad I did. The Flexcare has been a great improvement all around.

Pros:

-New Lighter, Slimmer Handle
This is probably the first thing you'll notice if you're coming from an older Sonicare handle, and it is a very welcome improvement. The FlexCare handle is small and feels much better in the hand than my old bulky 5300 handle. The unit is actually longer than my old brush, but that's not a big deal at all.

-New ProResults Brush Head system
The new heads are great. Sonicare moved the tuning fork from the head to the handle, which means smaller brush heads than on the old models. A 3 pack of the new heads is the same price as a 2 pack of the old heads, making them actually a better deal for a superior product.

-No More Crud in the Handle!
The biggest problem with my old brush was that old toothpaste/drool/water tended to collected in the space where the handle connects to the brush head. It would get all moldy and gross if you didn't clean it out regularly. Thankfully, this problem is completely gone with the Flexcare handles.

-Lithium Ion Batteries
I've waited a long time for Sonicare to upgrade from inferior NiCd batteries, and they finally have. With Lithium Ion, you don't have to worry about battery capacity decreasing over time, or a memory effect. The new batteries charge faster, too.

-UV Sanitizer Included
UV Sanitizers for toothbrushes are relatively new to the market, and a great idea. I always felt a little gross letting my brush sit out on the counter, even with the cover that comes with sonicare heads, and then putting it in my mouth. Scientists actually recommend that a toothbrush be kept 3 feet from the toilet due to "airborne particles" from the flush - yuck! A UV sanitizer will kill anything that might land on your brush, as well as things such as cold germs that might have come from your own mouth. Using the sanitizer is easy, just pop the brush head(s) in, press the green button, and wait for the UV light to kill the germs. I store my brush head inside the sanitizer until I need it next. The Charger is integrated with the sanitizer, although a separate travel charger is included.

-Quadpacer
This is basically a beep that goes off every 30 seconds while brushing, reminding you to switch to a new area of your mouth. It has appeared in previous models (not my 5300 though), and is nice if you'll use it, but I tend to go at my own pace as I focus more on problem areas in my mouth and less on others.

-5 Total Brushing Modes/Routines
There are 3 selectable "modes": clean mode: (2 minutes broken into 30 second segments), sensitive (a "gentler" clean mode) and massage (the brush pulsates for gum stimulation). Go Care Routine shortines the standard 2 minute clean mode to 1 minute, while Max Care is a longer, 3 minute cycle that includes both clean and massage mode. I set the brush on clean mode and tend not to use the other options, but some may find them useful.

-More Environmentally Friendly
Although buying a new product of any sort will always have a negative environmental footprint, these new brushes are better than the old models due to their Li-Ion batteries, reduced bulk, and lower waste in the smaller replacement brush heads.

Cons:

-Price
Let's be clear on this: a Sonicare toothbrush is a luxury product. You're paying a lot more up front, and you get to keep paying more every time you buy replacement heads. Surprisingly, heads for Flexcare units are actually a cheaper than the older models; you get 3 Flexcare heads for the same price as 2 of the old heads. The per head price is still several times what it would cost to buy a new manual brush; but for me the superior cleaning is worth it.

Noise
-Flexcare models are louder than older models. I'm not sure why this is, and supposedly vibration has been reduced in exchange, but the noise can be too much for some. The UV sanitizer also makes a quiet electric "hum" when plugged in with the door closed, even if the UV bulb isn't run.

-Buttons can be depressed while brushing
A couple of people have complained about accidentally hitting 1 of the 2 buttons on the handle while brushing. It hasn't happened to me, but for completeness I'll include this as a possible con.

Overall:

This brush is a vast improvement over my previous brush, and has fixed most of the problems I had without introducing any significant new ones. The fact that replacement brush heads are actually cheaper than on my old brush is a big plus. I highly recommend the Flexcare brushes as a great upgrade to any toothbrush, electric or manual, that you're currently using. ...

Philips Norelco 6843XL Reflex Plus Rechargeable Cord/Cordless Men's Shaving System

... Norelco Electric Razor 6843XL

I've owned this "shaving system" for three months. Owning a shaving system makes me feel more advanced than owning an ordinary electric razor, and for the money it's a cheap way to feel good about oneself. I feel better paying $57.99 for a shaving system than paying $169.99 for a Shaving System Pro. As long as it works. So far, this works.

The ReflexPlus6 Rechargeable Tripleheader Shaving System (whew) is comfortable to use, rides the waves but doesn't jump the bumps or cut the corners (unless you lean on it). After using the system for only three months my wife says I've become kinder, gentler, smoother and milder of manner. (Use this testimonial to convince someone special in your life to buy the system for you. That way you'll get a free system, but you might have to be nice for a change, for a little while.)

I can't make a case for the carrying "case." I don't call it a case. I call it a bag. But I don't carry it any place, so I don't care. The carrying bag would be nice if you carried it inside a real case. Like a suitcase or guitar case. I wouldn't take it to the South Pole in any case. In that case I'd use embers from the camp fire.

I also don't know how 30 minutes of shave time is calculated. Even after the full 8 hours of charging I've only gotten an average of 17.61 minutes per charge, calculated over three charging periods which, for me, is about 7 close shaves per charge. That's fine with me. It's no big deal to plug the system in. Just don't call 17.61 minutes 30 minutes. It takes about 30 minutes for the green LED to indicate that the system is ready for 17.61 more minutes of fun. Why leave it plugged in for 8 hours anyhow, I figure, since it doesn't seem to make any difference, other than shorten the battery life. If you must, use it plugged in if the battery is dead, although the manual says that the battery won't last as long if used in this way.

As for the metallic blue "pizazz" mentioned in the Amazon description, well, maybe or maybe not. Mine came in two shades: silver and gray, more like myself. No pizazz for me, but plenty of sophistication.

I inherited my last Norelco and used it for ten years or so, replacing the heads once. I don't know how long it had been in use prior to my taking it over, the model number hasn't produced any search results. It finally broke. It was also a three rotary head razor (not system). It got the job done, but compared with this new system it was like mowing my face. That is to say, THUMBS UP for this shaving system. If it lasts one third of the time my last Norelco lasted, I'll be quite pleased. ...

Philips Norelco 6701X Cool Skin Lotion Dispensing Shaver

... I hate shaving. I loathe it. It may be the worst part of being an adult male (which is, you know, not such a bad thing but still...) and I am fortunate that I really only have to shave a couple of times a week for work and such.

After reading the reviews here about a year ago, I went for it and bought the CoolSkin.

I decided that I would follow the instructions to the letter for the first couple of weeks. I shaved every day (horrible!!!) and then after about 10 days, something 'clicked' and it became an actual pleasure to shave.

It takes longer than using a conventional razor, but when you're finished, your face is smooth from the moisturizer and you have no more whiskers. Yay!

If you "let yourself go" for a bit and have longer whiskers, don't worry, it will still work. Don't hold the razor at the ends of the whiskers or it will simply PULL THE BEARD OUT OF YOUR FACE and no one except for a small yet vocal type of person wants that sort of pain in their life. Instead, begin shaving at the edge of the "beardline" and use slow, deliberate circles and you will achieve a nice, smooth, comfy shave.

Make sure you rinse the blades

Do it. You know you want it. Do it... ...

Norelco Cool Skin 7735X/7737X cordless shaver (factory reconditioned)

... An easy to use, long battery life, three headed electric razor. I have two of them, one home and one for the road. I first started to take the charger with me but I can get a month of shaves on a battery charge. There is a warning light on the razor that lets you know when to charge. I found that out by accident. The green charging LED on my older one died. I was in the shower some time after that and the light came on again flashing red. I assumed that it needed charging. I bought the second one as a refirb. It was a great deal compared to the prices I saw for new ones. Don't buy these from the manufacturer's website, it is really a bad deal and their service is awful. The lotions available last a reasonable time, if you are not too generous, of course, that is a personal discretion item. A case, charger, brush comes with. The new one had a hand strap and a holder for spare Cool Skin lotion packs, neither of which are necessary. I do use the strap to hang the "shower" one, but could get away with a piece of string, if pressed. Very good shave if you run it over the same skin a few times. It will never give you the shave of a barber or a good razor unless you work at it. There is little if any skin abrasion. ...

Norelco Arcitec Electric Razor Replacement Head - RQ10

My replacement heads have been a different story. Either they've change their manufacturing process, or they are reworking rejected or used heads. The body of the head has sharper edges and I'm writing this review with 3 ingrown hairs and a sore upper lip. I need to go over and over an area to get a shave and then it's sub-par.

Philips Sonicare Elite e9500 Custom Care Power Toothbrush

... I have this as a replacement of the recalled 7500 series. Disappointing! The replacement set last no more than 1yr and its damaged again!?! Lousy. Same thing as what the 7500. It simply doesnt charge and when I bring my 7500 to philips center, nothing is wrong with my charger. Its the handle/main part thats having the problem. Replacement and yet, less than 2yrs damaged again. As its a replacement, I cannot get it replaced even though its less than 1yr before it decided to say byebye.

Pro
-Brush stand to air the brush and handle.

-Small convenient charger

-Battery indicator

Cons
-Battery is not lasting!!! Different type of battery compared to Flexcare series.

-Brushing is more rough/strong than Flexcare

-The end of the handle turned black because of mould issues. My country is humid. The material is a good breeding ground for mould pores.

-Same problem with Sonicare products, most toothpastes will cause the white residue on the brush heads and the metal piece where u slot the brushhead into the handle. Almost impossible to be removed.

-The toothbrush or brush head of this and that of 7500 series is far more difficult to be maintained. plus when u removed the brushead, the handle will be like a cup collecting dirts etc. after few mths of usage, it tend to turn black or mouldy and its tough to clean those off even with magic sponge. THe brush head has to be cleaned every wk (kind of according to instructions). You have to push this particular part down and then clean the 'inside' of the area thats attached to the brush head. Its gross because of the toothpaste residue ... and maybe the saliva etc stuck inside.

-The price of this isnt much different from that of Flexcare. So instead of buying this, pls go n buy Flexcare instead.

I have bought the latest Flexcare series under Sonicare and I will strongly advise people to buy that, if u are going to choose this. This isnt cheap and the battery isnt as good as the latest model. Plus, function wise, its much stronger than the latest series. I do not believe that strong brushing = good brushing. Strong brushing can lead to residing gums too. Thats what happened when I brush too hard last time. So yea, pls check out the Flexcare series first. ...

Philips Norelco Speedxl Men's Shave Model #8240xl

... There seem to be several identical shavers listed here. Mine does not have the low charge warning light.

I bought this and waited before using it. Just another Norelco. So what?

The what is the shave seems particularly close and VERY QUIET. I never thought Norelcos were loud compared to some foil models put out by Braun or Remington. (Moreover in my experience, I get closer shaves with a rotary.)

This has the light sound of a pretend toy shaver while delivering excellent electric shaver performance. Quite remarkable. Even hard-to-mow-down neck stubble vanished quickly.

If the noise of your shaver bothers you, try this Norelco (or models like it.)

This has the standard Norelco "clean under the tap" method, which to me is far prefgerable to some makers' refillable cleaner systems. I have one of those too, but I got tired of buying special razor cleaning cartridges every month or two.

This does not deliver "blade-close" shave, but on many mornings my real blade shaves are too close. Styptic pencil, anyone?

Philips Norelco 7180XL Cord/Cordless Rechargeable Shaver

... I have owned many cordless Norelco rotory shavers in my life (I'm over 50 now). My first shaver was a Norelco. I have always been pleased and with them and when they finally died I always bought another. I have never owned a brand other than a Norelco. This one has made me think maybe I should switch - couldn't be worst than this one. Battery dies before my 3rd shave finishes. It takes forever to shave and not very close even after I shave for 15 minutes going over the same spot over and over again - still can feel the stuble. I have never gotten razer burn before but this one has giving me one oh too many times. I know were the phrase "red neck" comes from now. Oh by the way if you happen to have a little long nose hairs this baby will catch them and pull them (not cut them). And because it wasn't cut that same nose hair could be pulled several times during a shave bringing tears to your eyes. I try to keep them very short now but am still very nervous when shaving my upper lip - just don't know when it will catch one. I have put up with this one for over a year now and it has not gotten any better. Time to trash it.
