... The 3030 is NOT a good travel shaver. It is so tiny that it takes forever to complete a shave. It uses 1 AA battery which runs down fast and has very little power. The shaver doesn't travel well in luggage because it has poor protection for the foil and can turn on accidentally. I have one but replaced it with a Braun P-70 which is made for travel and will give a good shave day after day for weeks on one set of batteries, and is twice as powerful and only $5 more. I keep the little Eltron at work for emergencies like that wild hair or rough patch that I might have missed in the morning with my normal shaver. It is worthless as a travel shaver. ...

... I have owned this shaver for over 6 months now, and I use it almost every day. It is fairly easy to use, and gives a very decent shave (although not as good as an actual razor). So far, this shaver has lasted much better than other shavers I have owned in the past (admittedly less expensive ones).

Unlike one of the reviewers, I think the light-weight of the shaver and the flip-top (for cleaning) are both positive aspects of the shaver.

And, because the shaver can hold up to 30 days of charge, it's possible to fully charge the shaver before a long trip and not worry about recharging it. I have taken it on a 3-week trip through the UK and Italy, and have used it most days, and it worked throughout the trip. Unless you are planning on taking a really long trip, I think it's best to just leave the charger and docking cradle at home.

... It won't do fine hairs and does not pull out all hairs at the root, some hairs may clip off and not be unrooted, and when you try to go over the area again it won't get those hairs. Basically, it works about as well as waxing,but without the mess. It is about as quick as shaving (though I just dry shave).

Now, let's talk a bit about the pain. It does hurt, but not the kind of pain a woman can't handle. I use it for armpits and bikini area. It hurts but it's quick and with longer lasting results than shaving. If you do legs you should get into the habit of using the exfoliating pad because it does seem to cause much ingrowing of hairs. I don't have that problem in other areas though.

There is a learning curve in determining how close to the skin you go, if varies the type of hair and skin. You have to experiment to determine what is most effective maximizing uprooting more hairs and minizing the pain.

Definitely worth the price and pain. When is this thing going to be stocked again? I want to get at least 2 more for girlfriends as gifts! ...

... I must echo other reviewers who have criticized the terrible performance of the "rechargeable" batteries in this device. I loved the results of the cleaning but can't abide the fact that the batteries died (i.e., simply could not hold any amount of charge) right around the 2-year mark (coincidentally when warranties expire!). The fact that the batteries cannot be swapped out is truly appalling and can't be viewed as anything but a major rip-off of customers by a greedy corporation. Despite really enjoying the cleaning functions, I can't support buying a replacement brush knowing that the dead-battery problem will recur. It's simply a bad investment. Sorry, but this is one brand that will not enjoy my consumer loyalty. I'm truly disappointed to have to write this.

Postiives:
- Decent closeness of shave
- Easy to hold; nice grip and design
- Easy to clean

Negatives:
- Beard trimmer sucks - awkward design, not easy for around ears or neck
- Third foil that extends out sucks -- pulls hairs, not shaves hairs
- Battery duration/ife drained quickly; requiring use while plugged in
- Battery is irreplaceable!! Argh. So, now, when I travel, I have to take the cord and ensure I have a plug near a mirror.
- The razor is TOO young to be at the end of its life. Pisses me off. I got 2 to 3 years use out of this razor before it ended up in a state where my previous 2 Brauns took 6 to 7 years. I'm going back to Braun.

My users manual is copyrighted 2005. I bought it new in either 2005 or 2006. Well, it is fall 2008, and my battery no longer holds a charge. I've unscrewed the components, only to discover that the battery is not replaceable! Argh. Previously, I had two Brauns which lasted me over 6 years each.
